Privacy policy

The short version: this site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and tracks nobody. If you type your email address into the box asking to be told when Hood relaunches, we keep that address and use it for that one purpose. Nothing else.

What we collect

There is exactly one way to give us personal information on this site, and it is voluntary: the field at the bottom of the story page where you can leave an email address to be notified when Hood relaunches.

Category collected: Identifiers — specifically, an email address. Nothing more. We do not ask for your name, your address, your age or anything else.
Where it comes from: Directly from you, when you type it in.
Why we collect it: To send you a message when the Hood Conference relaunches. That is the only purpose.
Who we share it with: Our web host, which receives the submission and stores it so we can read it. Nobody else.
Do we sell or share it: No. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined under California law. We never have.
How long we keep it: Until the relaunch message has gone out, or until you ask us to delete it — whichever comes first. If the relaunch is abandoned, we delete the list.
Sensitive personal information: We do not collect any.

What we do not do

No cookies. The site stores one thing in your browser — the language you chose — so it does not have to ask you twice. That never leaves your device and we cannot read it.
No analytics, no pixels, no session recording, no heatmaps, no advertising tags.
No third-party scripts of any kind. Fonts, images and audio are served from this site itself, so no outside company learns that you visited.
No profiling and no automated decision-making.

Our web host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, as every web server does. Those are used to keep the site running and to stop abuse, and are not combined with anything else or used to build a profile of you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the rights below. We extend all of them to everyone who writes to us, regardless of where they live, because it is simpler and fairer than checking.

To know what personal information we hold about you, where it came from, why we have it and who we have disclosed it to.
To delete it.
To correct it if it is wrong.
To opt out of sale or sharing — already moot, since we do neither.
To limit the use of sensitive personal information — also moot, since we collect none.
To portability — a copy of what we hold, in a usable format.
Not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these. We would not know how to, given that all we have is an email address.

How to exercise them

Email info@hoodrubber.com and say what you want. We will reply within 45 days, and usually within a couple of days, because the list is short and so are we.

We verify a request simply: we reply to the address in question and ask you to confirm. If you are an authorised agent acting for someone else, send us written permission signed by that person and we will treat it the same way.

If you use a browser or extension that sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we honour it. In practice it changes nothing here, because there is nothing to opt out of.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us an address, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. The address list is held by our host behind their authentication. We keep as little as possible for as short a time as possible, which is the only security measure that never fails. If we ever learn of a breach affecting your information, we will tell you and any regulator that has to be told.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. If a change is material — if we ever start collecting something new — we will say so plainly on the page before it takes effect.
